Collard has served as president and chief executive officer and the chairman of the board of directors since our merger with Cornerstone BioPharma in October 2008. In March 2004, Mr. Collard founded Cornerstone BioPharma Holdings, Ltd., the assets and operations of which were restructured as Cornerstone BioPharma in May 2005, and served as its president and chief executive officer, and as director from March 2004 to October 2008. Before founding Cornerstone BioPharma, Mr. Collard served as the president and chief executive officer of Carolina Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical company he founded in May 2003. From August 2002 to February 2003, Mr. Collard served as vice president of sales for Verum Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical company based in the Research Triangle Park, N.C. From 1998 to 2002, Mr. Collard worked as director of national accounts at DJ Pharma, Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical company which was eventually purchased by Biovail Pharmaceuticals, Inc. His pharmaceutical career began in 1992 as a field sales representative at Dura Pharmaceuticals, Inc. He was later promoted to several other sales and marketing positions within Dura. Mr. Collard is a member of the board of directors of Hilltop Home Foundation, a non-profit corporation in Raleigh, NC. Mr. Collard holds a B.S. in engineering from the Southern College of Technology (now Southern Polytechnic State University) in Marietta, GA.
Steven M. Lutz Executive Vice President, Manufacturing and Trade Steven M. Lutz has served as executive vice president, manufacturing and trade, since the merger with Cornerstone BioPharma. Mr. Lutz was a founding stockholder of Cornerstone BioPharma and served as its executive vice president of commercial operations from March 2004 to October 2008. Before joining Cornerstone BioPharma, Mr. Lutz served as vice president of corporate accounts for Carolina Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from July 2003 to August 2004. In previous positions, Mr. Lutz was responsible for trade sales for Verum Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from September 2002 to February 2003. He was a national account manager for Biovail Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from February 2001 to September 2002 and a national account manager for Roberts Pharmaceutical Corporation (later acquired by Shire Pharmaceuticals Group plc) from January 1995 to February 2001. Mr. Lutz holds a B.A. in Political Science and Sociology from Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA.
Joshua B. Franklin Vice President, Sales and Marketing Joshua B. Franklin has served as vice president, sales and marketing, since December 2008 and, before that, as vice president of marketing since our merger. Before joining Cornerstone, Mr. Franklin served in a variety of marketing positions at Ther-Rx Corporation (a subsidiary of K-V Pharmaceutical Company) from July 2003 to September 2008, including most recently as vice president, marketing. Prior to joining Ther-Rx Corporation, Mr. Franklin held various marketing roles with Biovail Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from January 2002 to July 2003 and the Ross Products Division of Abbott Laboratories from August 1999 to January 2002. Mr. Franklin is a U.S. Army veteran and holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Methodist University and M.H.A. and M.B.A. degrees from The Ohio State University.
Andrew K. W. Powell Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary Andrew K. W. Powell was appointed executive vice president, general counsel and secretary in October 2009. He has more than 20 years of experience practicing law. He began his legal career at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, before joining Baxter International. During his 15 year tenure at Baxter International, Mr. Powell held positions of increasing responsibility, and was instrumental in a series of transactions that established the company throughout Asia. He also led the global law function at Baxter Bioscience. From 2004 to 2008, Mr. Powell was a leader on the management team that successfully developed CollaGenex Pharmaceuticals into a publicly traded commercial company that was sold to Galderma Laboratories for $425 million. Most recently, Mr. Powell was senior vice president and general counsel for ImClone Systems, Inc. where he managed the sale of that company to Eli Lilly & Co. for $6.5 billion. Mr. Powell has extensive experience in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property management, licensing and product development, commercial transactions and corporate governance. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC and a juris doctorate from Stanford Law School, Stanford, CA.
Alan T. Roberts Vice President, Scientific Affairs Alan T. Roberts was appointed vice president, scientific affairs in May 2009. He has a broad base of experience of 20 years spanning the technical disciplines of the pharmaceutical industry. Prior to founding and serving as president of Tybeam Pharma Consulting, LLC, Mr. Roberts served as chief scientific officer for Auriga Laboratories, Inc., and as vice president, global manufacturing and development and vice president, scientific affairs for First Horizon Pharmaceutical Corporation, where he established the regulatory, technical, and development environments for a company transitioning from non-application, ethical pharmaceuticals to FDA-approved, application products. Mr. Roberts also served as vice president, research and development for Mikart, Inc., a private, pharmaceutical contract manufacturer, where he was instrumental in establishing the development program and achieving FDA application approvals. Prior experience also includes key management positions in regulatory and development with Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and the Medical University of South Carolina’s Pharmaceutical Development Center, respectively. Mr. Roberts holds a B.S. in microbiology from Clemson University.
